A colossal effort, but possible ?

If a Canadian alternative to the American giants were to emerge, it would require massive commitment from Canadian businesses, resellers, and consumers. Before, no one asked the question. Today, we want the answer. The survey results will be publicly revealed. We want to measure the true willingness of Canadians to regain their technological sovereignty.

Final proposal for the identity of the survey

Organized by an independent group of Canadians committed to technological sovereignty. No political or commercial affiliation.

Just an observation: Are we ready to develop our own alternatives?

Why is this survey crucial?

We want to know what Canadians think. Until today, no one has really asked this question. Do we still have a choice when it comes to technology? We have let American giants take control, but should Canada take its technological destiny into its own hands?

Your opinion matters! Your digital sovereignty is at stake!

Survey on digital sovereignty

What is digital sovereignty?

Digital sovereignty means keeping control over your own data and digital tools.

It means, for example, knowing where your personal information goes, being able to choose the technologies you use, and avoiding total dependence on large foreign companies for your digital needs.

Today, this ability to remain in control is being put to the test

For years, we have allowed the American giants – Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple (MAGA) – to control our technology. Today, they dominate our economy and our data.

  • What happens if they raise their prices by 25% overnight ?
  • And what if they limit or cut access to essential services ?
  • Can Canada regain control of its digital future ?

We want to know what YOU think!

This is a decisive moment for Canada. If change is possible, it all starts by understanding where Canadians stand.

Take 2 minutes to answer this survey. Your opinion matters !

Survey on digital sovereignty
1. Are you aware that Canada is almost entirely dependent on American tech giants (Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple) for its IT infrastructure?
2. Do you think this dependence strengthens the power of certain people who could threaten Canada's economic and political independence?
3. If the United States increased the cost of the technology services you use (cloud, software, IT infrastructure) by 25%, would you have a viable Canadian alternative today?
4. Do you currently use services or products from American tech giants (Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple) in your personal or professional life?
5. Do you think Canada's sovereignty is currently threatened by the dominance of American tech giants?
6. Do you believe Canada should develop its own technological alternatives to reduce its dependence on American tech giants?
7. Would you be willing to support Canadian companies that develop alternatives to the technologies of American giants?
8. In your opinion, should the Canadian government encourage and fund the development of local technological solutions?
9. Did you know that several countries like France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Austria use open-source solutions instead of products from American giants?
10. Do you think Canada should follow the example of these countries by investing in open-source and local solutions to strengthen its digital independence?
11. Would you be willing to gradually change your technological habits by adopting Canadian solutions if they were available and competitive?
12. Would you like to be kept informed about Canadian technology and digital independence initiatives?

We support any initiative that encourages Canadian businesses to offer locally controlled IT services and develop independent Canadian technology. Together, we can ensure digital autonomy and strengthen local innovation.

FAQ

Canada d’Abord : Indépendance Technologique

We want to know if Canadians are aware of their dependence on American tech giants (Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple – "MAGA") and if they would support a Canadian alternative.

This survey is an independent initiative led by technology entrepreneurs who believe in Canada's digital sovereignty. We are not affiliated with any political party or specific company.

Yes. Our dependence on American tech giants (Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple – MAGA) puts us in a vulnerable position.
Today, our critical infrastructure, data, communications, and a large part of our digital economy are entirely under the control of American companies.

• If these companies decide to increase their prices, we have to follow without an alternative.
• If they cut their services, we are paralyzed.
• If they decide to prioritize American interests, Canada has no leverage to oppose it.

Other countries have understood this and developed their own technological solutions. Why not us ?
This is why we are launching this survey: Are we ready to wake up and take action before it's too late ?

• Total dependence on the United States for our IT infrastructure.
• Possible increase in the cost of technology services (if the United States unilaterally decides to raise prices).
• Lack of robust Canadian alternatives in the event of an economic or political crisis.
• Lack of control over our data and national cybersecurity.

Other countries like France, Germany, Portugal, and Mexico have started developing local and open-source solutions to avoid total dependence on American companies.
Could Canada do the same? Are Canadians ready for such a challenge?

Yes! We will make the results public so everyone can see what Canadians really think about this issue.

Non. Ce sondage vise uniquement à mesurer la perception des Canadiens face aux enjeux technologiques et économiques liés à la domination des entreprises américaines.

• Because your opinion matters in building a viable Canadian alternative.
• Because if we do nothing, our dependence will only increase.
• Because together, we can lay the foundations for an independent Canadian technological future.

• Share the survey with those around you!
• Follow the results and get involved in discussions about technological sovereignty.
• Support Canadian IT companies that are developing alternatives.

It is software that is accessible to everyone, which can be used, modified, and shared for free. Many Canadian companies, such as Shopify and CGI, use these technologies for their websites and services. A well-known example is OpenOffice, a free alternative to Microsoft Office.

In the world of technology, MAGA refers to the four giants of the industry:

• Microsoft
• Apple
• Google
• Amazon

These companies dominate the digital industry, controlling key services such as operating systems, cloud computing, search engines, and online commerce. Their influence raises questions about digital sovereignty, data privacy, and dependence on foreign technological infrastructures.

It means maintaining control over your data, avoiding dependence on tech giants, and prioritizing local services for greater security and privacy.
